Dr. Rives grew up in Ruston, LA and attended LA Tech University where he received a BS in pre-dental studies. He then attended LSU School of dentistry and received his DDS.  Following this, he attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham for his residency in periodontics, being named as chief resident his last year.  He began the practice of periodontics and implant dentistry in Jackson in 1978.

 

Dr. Rives has been involved with dental organizations in Mississippi promoting improved dental health in the state. He has held positions in these organizations including treasurer and president of the Mississippi Dental Association, delegate to the House of Delegates of the American Dental Association (ADA), ADA council member for the Council on Dental Benefit Programs (CDBP) and investigator for the National Dental Practice Based Research Network (NDPBRN). He previously was a clinical assistant professor with the University Of Mississippi School Of Dentistry.

 

Dr. Rives resides in Jackson, MS with his wife, Peggy and has two grown children, Kathryn, a nurse, and Robert, a mechanical engineer.
